Bernado tells Livia that he lives with his sisters and her daughters.
Gabriela comments to Fernando that Bernado has been acting very strange and distant lately. Fernando says that he will speak to Bernado to perhaps see the source of this distance, knowing very much that his father-in-law is seeing a much younger woman. He vows to himself to take advantage of this opportunity for self-centered purposes.
Fernando pursues Bernado on horseback, and Bernado in his haste to make it to the house, collides with a Jeep being driven by the Elizondo family employee Olegario.
